Setting trends
The Research and Training Centre for Work and Technology - FAZAT was formed in 1989 against the backdrop of the severe economic crisis of the Steyr Daimler Puch AG, a large manufacturing conglomerate based in Steyr, Austria, which was broken up in stages between 1987 and 2001. FAZAT is not associated to any political party and sees its role as a driving force in the economic development and innovation of the Steyr region. .
During its 25 year existence and in collaboration with the economics department of the province of Oberoesterreich (OÖ), the Federal Government and the city of Steyr, FAZAT was able to set long-lasting trends for the city of Steyr:
Research and education: the establishment of research institutes (for example PROFACTOR) and the Technical College Oberoesterreich in the city of Steyr.
Infrastructure creation: The two business parks Stadtgut Steyr and Center for Technology and Innovation Steyr provide modern infrastructure for companies keen to establish themselves in and around Steyr as well as a comprehensive service offering for founders and companies that fall under the scope of Smart Innovation Steyr.
Perspectives for Steyr: The 25th birthday of the FAZAT Association in April 2015 marked the beginning of the ‚Open Innovation Processes Steyr 2030’
Since 2013 Mr Markus Vogl, Member of the Austrian Parliament, is the Chairman of the FAZAT Association.
